The Uganda Christian University Angels ran amok putting 115 goals past a frail Bishop Stuart University side in todays netball opener in the Association of Uganda University Sports tournament (AUUS) happening at UCU.
The Mukono based side showed great intention from the word go and by the end of the first two quarters, they led BSU Ladies by a margin of 60 points.
The Angels kept asking all the questions adding another 25 points by the end of the third quarter bringing the total to 89 goals against BSU’s 5 points.
The star-studded Angels team continued to glide with grace and distinction closing the game on a high, thumping BSU ladies 115 points to 8.
“Each and every person played their role during the game and there was massive communication during the game and we really prepared for this game,” said Linda Muzigo, captain of the UCU Angles netball team. “We leveraged on the challenges that the opponents had to make it very easy for us,” continued Linda.
Raymond Iga, one of the coaches for the UCU angels also acknowledges the fact that team work was their strongest pillar that propelled the team to emphatic victory today.
“The win was very refreshing. The ladies have indeed proven that they didn’t waste their time training but l must say that teamwork was our biggest asset today,” Said Iga.
The UCU Angels will next face Gulu University netball team tomorrow in what is building up to be a scintillating encounter. This emphatic win will give the Angels the much-needed confidence to face the Gulu based side.
Linda believes that her team is ready to take on each team one step at a time and that victory is not a matter of an option but a mandate.
“I hope we are going to perform almost the same way we did today. we shall play our hearts out and l believe my girls are very determined. We came to compete not to participate,” said the towering captain.
The UCU Angels plays in the National Netball league and is currently seated in the 5th position. These games provide an appropriate training environment for the side ahead of their national games.
