The Uganda Christian University (UCU) football fraternity has been honoured with multiple awards at the prestigious AUUS University Football League (UFL) awards ceremony held on Tuesday at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo. The UCU football team’s captain, Geoffrey Gagganga, was the standout performer, clinching the Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade for his exceptional skills and leadership on the field during the just concluded University Football League. In addition to the MVP award, Gagganga was also recognized as the Best Midfielder of the season and was selected for the Best XI team, highlighting his all-around excellence in the league. His achievements have brought great pride to UCU and serve as an inspiration for aspiring athletes within the university.

Addressing Journalists Gaganga recognized that receiving an award indicates that you have been putting in a lot of effort and doing amazing work—you may not be better than other players, but at least you are gaining more time on the pitch. On the same night, UCU’s commitment to sports and student development was further acknowledged through the award for the Best Sports Tutor, which was bestowed upon Lukaire Samuel, known to students as “Uncle Sam.”
