Despite scoring an equaliser in the first-half, Jovia Nakagolo goal was not enough to get us a point on a cold morning in Wakiso, Rines bounced back to condemn Cardinals to relegation to the FUFA Elite League.
Cardinals did not make a change to their starting lineup from the win against Lady Doves in the Uganda Cup.
The first chance fell early for Rines when their winger played Catherine Wujja through to the edge of the box. Her shot was reflected back of the net in the 30th.
Cardinals were quick to react to the other end of the pitch in the 36th Minute. Harima Kanyago’s pass was met with a strong chip by Nakagolo who brilliantly hit the back of the net.This set the tone for the game to an end to end action.
In the second half, the hosts found a second through Catherine again, UCU pressed high through additions of Mercy Amoding and Bridget Mbwali for Cathy Nassimbwa, Pamela Nalugemwa.
Despite further efforts, it was a bridge too far.
We will finalise our season on Sunday, May 26, against Asubo Ladies at our home grounds in Mukono.
